Raptors get Belinelli in trade with Warriors

TORONTO (Reuters) - The Toronto Raptors acquired Italian guard Marco Belinelli from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for forward Devean George, the NBA team said on Thursday.
Taken with the 18th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft by Golden State, Belinelli averaged 8.9 points, 2.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds in 42 games last season for the Warriors.
"Marco fills a void at the wing position where his shooting and scoring strengths will be needed," said Raptors president Bryan Colangelo in a statement. "Marco's versatility and playmaking abilities make him a very valuable piece for us."
Prior to joining the Warriors, Belinelli played for Bologna in the Italian league for five seasons and was a member of the 2006 world championship squad.
George, who spent seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, never played a game for the Raptors after coming to Toronto as part of a four-team sign and trade deal along with Hedo Turkoglu and Antoine Wright.
The Raptors also announced that they had signed free-agent Rasho Nesterovic.
The 7-foot center returns to Toronto after spending last season with the Indiana Pacers.
Nesterovic had previously spent two seasons with the Raptors averaging 6.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 20.9 minutes in 151 games.
